Recognition and blog-love is now coming in from all angles, and I feel very blessed and honored, not just for having readers, but to also get special mentions and awards. I have felt very insecure about the whole blogging-thing, and the feeling of just not being good enough has become a familiar one.

Joining the class of blogging101 on WordPress has changed all that. I had to jump in with both feet and start blogging in a foreign language, English, and that is quite a daunting task – even when your English is fairly good. You see, there are a couple things that really bother me with my English. First of all is that I know I lack the “finesse” of the language, the play-on-words that I love in my native tongue – well I just can’t make that work in English. I’m afraid of losing my stingers, the clever little wordings, or – if you will – the “umf”

Also proving to be a problem for me is the fact that I was taught the Queens English is school, but I speak with an American accent. Seriously, I do sound like a Valley girl. This has two reasons, firstly my tongue just won’t twist the right way to pull off Oxford English, and secondly I did my senior year in High School in the booming metropolis of Sparks, Nevada. This resulting in me not knowing how to spell colo(u)r. Or neighbo(u)r. These are things that really freak Old Mamasan out.

Another thing that is doing my head in, is that I must spend a whole lot of time proofreading my texts, and I still have to go back days, weeks, later and correct spelling and grammar-mistakes. That bugs me to no end! I want my text to be perfect, dang nabbitt!

Receiving awards and positive feedback from the blogging community, helps. Oh man! You guys have no idea how much it helps! My blogosteem (self-esteem when it comes to blogging specifically) is getting such a boost! Seriously, I’m floating on air here! I hope I can help raise the blogosteem in some of my fellow bloggers, like they have helped me, and this brings us to today’s business:

Premio Dardos

The Premio Dardos Award

First off I would like to express my humble gratitude towards the two bloggers that nominated me for this award:

Kathy Mays – (An old dog learning to blog) a warm and wonderful new blogger who has set out to see if blogging can be her creative outlet. I’d say she’s really onto something here!

Vibrant – (blabberwockying) a lovely, young man who really lives up to his online name, Vibrant!

Thank you so much, the both of you! I urge everyone to check out their wonderful blogs by clicking on their names above.

Premio Dardos means “prize darts” in Spanish and is given “in recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing.”

This award comes with the following rules:

1) Include the Premio Dardos Award Picture and the name of the person that nominated you (Include a link to their blog)

I would like to nominate the following blogs to the Premio Dardis Award:

  1. I would never have guessed that english is a second language! I’m impressed with you and your abilities to write in a foreign language…and yes…if I dig deep down inside, I’d say I’m a bit jealous! 🙂 I’ve studied 5 languages over the years and I stink at all of them – and not for lack of trying, just no talent 😦
Anyway, keep up the good work and congrats on your nomination! 🙂 🙂

  2. Hello Again Olive,

Despite everything you said: Reading your English posts is such a source of joy to me and many others! It really is!

I enjoyed reading this post as much as the previous one.

Thanks for the kind mention and passing the torch(baton?) onto other friends 🙂

I feel a lot of blogolove is circulating in the air. You have coined “blogosteem.” A new word!

I wish you a great luck in 101, blogging and life.

    Lovely weekend,
    Cheers 🙂

    1. Thank you kindly, Anand. And thank you for nominating me. You are a true inspiration to all of your classmates, and a true builder of blogosteem 🙂

  3. Hi Olive,

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for such nominating my blog. It really flatters me that it would not have sink into my mind well. Honestly, I have not imagined myself writing a blog of my own. What made me push into is my will and my desire of creating beautiful interpretations of the photographs that I captured. Despite the hesitant, well you know English isn’t my native language. Though, my call center experience may have helped a lot, every day is a learning process. In fact, I really appreciate a fellow blogger who shares straight comments and thoughts on me. I welcome them all. 😉

Thank you so much and all the best.

    Chris xoxo
